Whilst I was looking at the Roland/Cakewalk Site I came across a page offering an upgrade FOR FREE if you buy any version of Sonar X1.
This is an upgrade from any version of Sonar X1 to the same version X2 and as I said FOR FREE. Why pay more?
I have seen on www.amazon.co.uk Sonar X1 Essential for £40 and Producer for £80.
The offer lasts up to 31/12/2012 as far as I can remember and if I can find the link I will post it up here.
As always check the details and the small print but that looks like a pretty good deal to me.

If you can get it for that price, I should go for it! I just reviewed X2 producer for the Dutch magazine www.interface.nl and it's amongst the best DAWs at the moment. They 'borrowed' the best ideas from the other leading DAWs (Cubase, Live, ProTools) and combined them in one concept. In X2 a lot of sharp edges from X1 have been ironed out. X1 was a totally new concept for Sonar. X2 has great instruments and FX plugs. Gives you something to work on (the manual contains 1956 pages )

| Of course that's me being a bit of a twit and not speaking to a least European Audience if not Worldwide. Of course I was making comparison in UK only and I haven't searched European sites for their prices but I would hope that it would be the same deal. I went to Thomann in Germany which I have dealt with and they would sell me Sonar X2 in the three versions at £88, £142 and £398 so if you can find Sonar X1 at a discounted price and as you have testified as to how good it is, then it must be well worth it, even has me tempted. |On Amazon UK, Producer X1 retails for 199 GBP. If you want all the instruments (not LE) you have to bleed . |
X1 Studio could be an alternative.
Here you can find out exactly:

|Bit of a warning here: The link you gave me, to the magazine, returned the following from my Kaspersky Virus Checker: "HEUR:Trojan.Script.Generic |
Objects covered by this classification delete, block, modify, or copy information, and disrupt the performance of computers or computer networks". It then blocked the site. I am going to warn them if I can find an E-Mail address, if you do please mail them as well or contact them in some otherf way. Things like that can destroy a magazine. Jagd1

|Amazon UK seems to be throwing up all sorts of odd prices at the moment. I've got Essentials and Studio here: LINK And thats for the prices I stated and here for Producer at £199 and £379 on the same page: LINK Very strange, still cheaper than the X2 prices I hope and then a free upgrade to Version X2.
